Everyday and all around the world, many people leave their companies. Sometimes, their off boarding is not well prepared and managers or CEOs don’t make the necessary steps before the departure.
An Off boarding is not always an easy task. A few things must be taken care of, but there are some techniques to make the off boarding easier for both the employees and their managers.
The announcement:
The departure of an employee must be announced to everyone in the company who is concerned: coworkers, supervisors, HR department, accountancy department and more.
Every individual who has a role to play must be aware of the departure of the employee.
If an employee has been working with external companies, they should know about it as well in order to know who to contact after him.
The announcement can also be done on social media, depending on your activity and the size of your company.
The replacement:
As we know, it’s usually difficult to replace an individual. So, before they leave, you should ask them if they can train the new person in charge and update them about anything they should know.
Leaving a company without burning bridges is a smart decision. So, if you are needed to help with your off boarding, don’t turn your back on your team. They might ask you to help find a replacement or to train them.
Organize an event and thank each other:
If one of your team members is leaving the company, we suggest to organize a small event (brunch, afterwork or else). The reason behind this is to thank each other for all the contribution made for the success of the company. It’s also nice to keep a good network. Plus, it’s very pleasing to be appreciated for all the effort that somebody made.
